here’s a prayer from Fr. Richard Rohr, OFM..
* Joey Velasco is a well-known Filipino artist who depicted Jesus in very real ways. He never originated as an artist, in fact, it was not until after his sickness and his suffering, that he started to discover this talent that he had in art. He has since passed, but his artwork remains. Google “Joey Velasco” and you’ll see what I’m talking about. The first picture, “Hapag ng Pag-Asa” – “Table of Hope” is a depiction of the Last Supper, and Velasco based each of the individuals at the table (pieces of box carton) on a child that he met while walking through the slums of the Philippines. The child bent over on the floor in the painting is based on this child in Sudan in 1994. The second picture, “Hapag ng Pag-Ibig” – “Table of Love” is the exact opposite of the first picture. It is a feast! A celebration! Check out Velasco’s work. It’s quite inspiring.
